85 Points - James Halliday
| GRAPE VARIETY: | 100% Merlot |
| REGION: | Orange Region, NSW |
| WINEMAKING: | This Merlot was harvested when the fruit reached optimum ripeness. It was then taken to the winery, fermented in open fermenters with the cap pumped over 3 times daily to add colour, texture and body. The wine was then transferred to finely grained French Heinrich Cote du Rhone Barriques for nine months maturation. |
| COLOUR: | Deep garnet with a youthful purple hue. |
| AROMA: | The aromas are rich with dark berries including mulberry and plum, with tobacco leaf, leather, rhubarb, coffee and charry oak complexity. |
| PALATE: | These aromas flow through to the rounded palate which has soft, integrated tannins and good length of flavour. |
| WINE ANALYSIS: | Alc/vol: 14.5% pH: 3.55 T.A: 1 g/L |
| CELLARING: | Medium term cellaring to around 2015 will ensure further integration and development of lovely maturation flavours. |
