"It opens a bit charry but settles down pretty quickly and there’s no shortage of dark cherry and berry fruit, pepper, Hunter earthiness and liberal, yet tasteful, vanilla oak. It’s medium to full bodied and densely fruited, sinewy with ripe chewy tannins and clean balanced acidity - a wine of strength but not heaviness. It showed now signs of tiring over a couple of days either. Very good - carries the understated power of this under-rated vintage."
