The 2005 vintage is all about power – the wines are BIG!! The icon wines from this vintage will need time in your cellar. Obsidian is one of these – it commands your attention. We began separating out our ultra premium shiraz for a reserve wine 7 years ago and the 2005 Obsidian is an amazing example of what great vintages from great vineyards can achieve when given the latitude. This wine screams life – it’s a gangster!
Colour: Purple with black hue.
Nose: Liquorice, bitter chocolate, plums, amarone, currants, crushed almonds.
Palate: Amazing concentration. A thick wine with loads of character and extract. The front and back palate are melded together with a mass of fruit weight, acid and tannin. I am amazed at where this wine is for its age.
Cellar: up to 25 years.
