Gemtree Vineyards, Gemtree Tatty Road

Product Description

(Cabernet Savignon 30%, Petit Verdot 25%, Merlot 25%, Cabernet Franc 20%)

The 2008 vintage continues a remarkably strong decade of harvests in McLaren Vale, joining 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. An almost perfect growing season paved the way for a remarkably strong vintage where all the strongest parcels of fruit were picked in ideal conditions.

We declassified a large percentage of the 2008 cabernet due to the quality being below our expectations, so the resulting 2008 volumes of Tatty Road are minute! That being said, the power and concentration of this vintage exceed our expectations. We have been making this wine for nine vintages and this is the style we ultimately set out to achieve...lush but restrained.

Colour:         Black and purple.

Nose:            Violets, currants, cassis, rose petals, roasted almonds, dark olive and dark chocolate.

Palate:          The wine is separated into 3 distinct profiles as we scribe this (august 2009): a multi layered generous, concentrated front palate with oodles of flavour; a voluptuous mid palate; and the ripe elongated tannins that draw the back end of the wine together.
This is the most complex of all the Tatty's we have produced this far, have patience and it will reward.

Food:              All red meats.

Cellar:            10 - 15+ years.

Achievements:
