Gemtree Vineyards, Gemtree Tadpole Shiraz

Product Description

The Tadpole Shiraz is an untamed animal — zero filtration, zero fining and minimal intervention.

The 2008 vintage continues a remarkably strong decade of harvests in McLaren Vale, joining 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. An almost perfect growing season paved the way for a remarkably strong vintage where all the strongest parcels of fruit were picked in ideal conditions prior to the onset of a record heat wave in March.

The resultant wines have great concentration and flavour yet continue with the Gemtree trademark of fine acid and tannin lines.
The 2008 Tadpole Shiraz was aged primarily in American oak barriques for 14 months; the Tadpole is your classic balcony wine – natural, juicy, soft and drinkable.

Colour:        Deep red, purple/black hues.

Nose:          Blueberries, mulberries, paprika (red spice). Dark liqueur chocolates, liquorice and a hint of savoury oak.

Palate:        A mouthful of juicy, ripe red succulent berries combining with liquorice and chocolate. This wine has concentration yet remains focused by the balanced acidity and soft tannins, very harmonious.

Cellar:         Now - 2012
