Company Information

  • About Us
Swooping Magpie is a Boutique Vineyard and Premium Wine producer based at Yallingup in the Margaret River Wine Region of Western Australia. Our Vineyard is situated at the top of the Naturaliste Ridge; it was established in 1997/98, and is owned & operated by Neil Tuffield. Our aim is to produce a small Premium range of hand-crafted and affordable wines featuring both Varietal and Blended styles to be marketed locally, and in selected outlets within Australia & overseas.
  • Our Area
The vineyard sits on a plateau 140 metres above sea-level. Our “Mediterranean-maritime” style climate features Indian Ocean breezes that flow up from the valleys and cool the vineyard in the evening during the long warm growing season. We run the farm with sustainable agricultural practices, and use minimal water resources. All harvesting & pruning is by traditional hand methods, and we use organic fertilizers and vine-sprays.
  • Our Winemaker
We use several contract winemakers, depending on the particular wine made. Including Kevin McKay, Todd Payne, Julian Langworthy, Ben Rechtor and Mark Standish. Each with varying years of experience both here in Margaret River, or in the Eastern States and overseas.
  • Grape Varieties
Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Semillon, Chardonnay, Verdelho, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc, Muscat au Petit Grains,
  • Our Brands

Keep it up Beverley (Jane Brook), we are also continuing to sell fortifieds. I have a solero Muscat with wine up to 10 years in barrels. Also just sold out of our 2004 Liqueur Tawny (port). But this vintage we are making a sticky sauvignon blanc for the first time. Seems the wine lovers overseas only get exposure to what the big guys produce and market. So Deb, next time I'm going to the US I'll tuck a case under my arm for you!. Regards, Neil.
