Company Information

  • About Us
Toombullup (pronounced tumble-up) North Winery is a young family operated winery. We consist of 3 full time staff and produce traditional red and white wine styles from an annual crush of 30 tonnes.
Our history has been high quality viticulture for over 25 years, we began making our own wine several years ago and the Toombullup North label was launched in 2008.
  • Our Area
Located in North east Victoria, Myrrhee (my-ree) forms the southwest corner of the King Valley wine region. King Valley is a renowned cool climate wine region. Our vineyards feature rich volcanic soils at elevations up to 580m. Annually the region receives some 800mm to 1000mm of rain. The hot summers, cool nights, rich volcanic soils produce long ripening seasons and wines of intense flavours and complexity.
  • Grape Varieties
Our vineyards consist of Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz

in the topic Where does the name for your wine come from? in the forum Wine Chat

We wanted our name to offer some intrigue yet be true to where we are located.  Many options were tossed about with respect to the roads nearby, the ancient name of our farm (Quamby) and there were others that would have been trade mark infringement. So lets not mention those!

Toombullup comes from the Toombullup Range which heads north from Mansfield toward Wangaratta.  Toombullup North is the northern parish of the ranges.  Our property borders this parish and another, giving us 2 choices.  We don't yet know exactly what Toombullup means.  We have been trying desperately to find a historian or some such cummunity elder who may have some insight. But we liked it, so it's stuck!

The only tricky part is getting people to pronounce it 'tumble-up' instead of how it's spelt.  But someday it will happen i guess.

    cheers!

    Yep, fully endorse the event.

Watch out for dodgy winemakers trying to sway you toward their booze though!

Seriously, having the public judge is a brilliant idea. And the more who show up to judge, the more even the results should become.  Try to limit yourself to 4 judging's at a time, you have all afternoon to get through it.  And like the organizers suggest, if you start scoring the Sav Blanc's, finish them, in fairness to the winery's who've submitted.

Most of all, enjoy yourself, it'll be a great day!  We'll be there on the day too.

EXCELLENT opportunity for wineries to buddy up with a new BoozeMonkey friend, swop and review each others wines!

What better way to compare regions, varieties, single vineyard, biodynamic differences?

I say GO FOR IT MONKEY BRETHREN!

Great Idea, who wants to swap?

We'd love to have reviews from our peers
