Personal Information

  • About Me
I work in the wine industry in Tasmania & Victoria.

I live in hope that one day I will find my dream job making premium traditional method sparkling on a remote tropical island. Tasmania's about the closest I've managed to this, and probably a slightly better environment for growing grapes than Bora Bora.

More About Me

  • I love...
reading, drinking wine or both at the same time preferably in a hot bath, trying to come up with the most random, obscure food and wine matches that I can.
  • Favourite Wine
I think the situation makes the wine. Apart from that I like variety, but particularly like sparkling, Pinot, Riesling, old Hunter Semillon, Austrian Whites, Italian Wines, Tempranillo, Sherry.......

Location

  • Town / City
    Lebrina

Welcome to the Fizz Lovers Group! Call it Champagne, Cava, Sparkling Wine... call it what you will. If you're a fizz lover then this is the group for you.

I'm looking for a couple of group leaders to take over this group once we get it up and running, so if you would like to help organize things, please let me know.

Loving it in Tassie !! Awesome East Coast Rieslings !! Get some . . .

Good Rieslings eveywhere down here - down south I'd try Frogmore Creek, up north Josef Chromy, Moores Hill, Holm Oak, Goaty Hill.  Just as a few starters!

A fairly new family winery doing some pretty interesting stuff in terms of winery & vineyard sustainability (minature sheep in the vineyard, looking at turning their waste water treatment into a biodigestor, etc).

They have two labels: Yealands & Yealands Est, not sure how much they cost though, I think maybe around $15 and $20-25 respectively?

They have a pretty comprehensive website: www.yealands.com

What I am actually listening too for the first day of picking at Clover: the only 5 CDs I left in the winery last vintage, being:

    Regurgitator, Unit
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Dig!!! Lazuras Dig!!!
    Lily Allen
The 2 CDs of the 2006 Hottest 100

Saving the Nick Cave for the last press load, about 4:30 am.

Nice to see Nick Cave on the list.
I almost went for Bentley Rhythm Ace's "Theme From Gutbuster" for pump-overs but the embarrassing butt-shaking involved means I reserve that one for Sundays - on my own.
    Good luck for vintage, Phil.

Only 5? That isn't even going to last one press load, but here we go...

    1. Foux da fa fa - Flight of the Concords. Not only will you be able to describe your Chardonnay juice (Pamplemousse! Ananas!) but you'll be able to answer all your vintage French guy's important questions about dancing & reading.

    2. Dance Anthem of the 80s - Regina Spektor. Some good girly, piano based pop to keep you bopping along while dragging hoses, plus it metions the word sleep a lot which is the closest you're going to get in vintage.

    3. Handsome Devil - The Smiths. Well, I'm wearing fluro orange, may as well have some 80s music to go with it. I would really like to know if "let me get my hands on your mammary glands" is a pick up line that has worked for anyone???

    4. Leaning on Love - The Tea Party. In that really low point of night shift (where you can see the sunrise is starting and there's fruit everywhere on the pad) you need something mellow but uplifting - the Tea Party always works for me.

    5. Red Right Hand - Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. Nick Cave is a must on my vintage list, besides, what better song for wearing your caustic gloves ?
