Company Information

  • About Us
Patrick of Coonawarra is a family-owned winery using only estate grown and managed fruit with a strong focus on viticulture practices. Extended release dates enhancing the commitment to quality, adding bottle age maturation and ensuring that the wine will be enjoyed at its optimum. Every effort is made to allow full expression of fruit characters and the terra rossa soils that is the foundation of the Coonawarra’s exemplary reputation.

    Patrick of Coonawarra
The Patrick of Coonawarra Range is the company flagship, reflecting an unwavering commitment to quality and exemplifies the varietal characteristics of Patrick’s Coonawarra vineyard. The highest quality fruit is used and the best parcels of wine chosen to handcraft these premium wines.

    Estate Range
This premium wine range is the result of a highly skilled winemaker working with magnificent quality fruit from one of Australia’s premier wine producing regions known for its hallowed terra rossa soils over limestone and pristine underground water.

    Mother of Pearl Range
This range pays homage to the ancient, shell encrusted sea beds of the Limestone Coast which today serve as the foundation for the region’s lucrative wine industry.
Vineyards thrive in free draining soils derived from fossilised marine formations and windswept dunes. Combined with a cool climate, they allow for fruit yields of a consistent outstanding quality.
The Mother of Pearl range is famous for its unique flavour and maritime influence, with a rich smooth finish that emulates perfection.
  • Our Area
About Coonawarra is renowned as one of Australia's finest wine regions and is particularly known for producing world class red wines especially Cabernet Sauvignon. Its secret lies in a magical marriage of rich red terra rossa soil, limestone, pure underground water and a long cool ripening season for the grapes. Today, Coonawarra vineyard land is prized like a precious gem. The cigar-shaped strip of 'terra rossa' is finite, only 12km long and 2km wide, and is all but taken up by vineyards. More than 24 Coonawarra wineries have cellar door sales outlets, mostly open seven days a week (except Christmas Day) and you will be warmly welcomed for tastings. The Coonawarra Vignerons Association plays host to several exciting events throughout the year. In January, The Coonawarra Cup will be contested at the Coonawarra Vignerons race meeting. The lights of vintage will be on in April as we celebrate vintage at Coonawarra After Dark. There are cultural activities and exhibitions all year round but brilliantly showcased in the Penola/Coonawarra Arts Festival in May. During the winter month of July our cellar door sales offer rare back vintage tastings of Coonawarra wines for Coonawarra Cellar Dwellers. The year reaches its pinnacle in October when Coonawarra winemakers submit their 'best' barrel of Cabernet for the 'Barrel Series' charity auction supported by an array of 'Cellarbrations' by individual wineries held as part of the Coonawarra Cabernet Celebration weekend. There is something for all visitors to experience when making the journey to Coonawarra. Things have been a bit quiet so far this vintage in the Coonawarra. Picked the last of our whites last night! Our reds are a little way off at this stage. Vintage is proberly running on scedule time wise but after last year where we picked Riesling and Shiraz in the same day it seems a little slow. Our Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Chardonnay all look good in the tank and we cant wait to have a play with them. I will try to post some pictures when the reds start peeling off.

    Bye for now!
