Caught Redhanded :: McLaren Vale Wine Sale
Appearance
Deep purple wine with a bright purple mousse, a crimson cherry edge and a fine bead.
Nose or Smell
Rich, jammy black fruit on the nose, predominantly cherry and blackcurrant.
Flavour
Deep, rich fruity flavour of black cherry, blackcurrant and chocolate, with a little bitter cherry on the back palate and a long fruity finish. The wine holds the bubbles well (ie, they don't fall off after a few minutes), and the richness of flavour comes from the wine and not from sweet sugar content. Impressive!
Overall Impression
For just $22, this is a knock-out sparkling Shiraz. Bags of flavour and a great gas-job make for an impressive bottle of fizz, and I would be surprised if you can find better in this price bracket.
