Caught Redhanded :: McLaren Vale Wine Sale
Appearance
Clear and bright cherry red fading to clear at the edges.
Nose or Smell
Primary notes of vanilla, followed by raspberry, wild rose, musk and a very slight whiff of prunes. After the bottle had been open for a while, I think the sweat smell of American oak started to become prominent.
Flavour
On the Palette – There is a reasonable journey to be taken from the strawberry flavours right at the front of the mouth through the sweet astringent tannins on the mid palette but the journey doesn’t go much further than that.
Overall Impression
A very well balanced wine that’s great now but will continue to improve for at least 3 years.
